Merry Christmas (late) and a Happy New Year! (slightly less late)
This video contains bosses from Sonic 1, 1GBA, CD JP&US, 2, 3, 3&K (and 3Complete), Chaotix and 3D Blast Genesis&Saturn.
Full description will be added soon! Video is also still being processed.
Tidal Tempest bossfight and the second Tails run of Red Eye were done segmented.
SONIC 1 BOSSES
Egg Wrecker: This one is rather simple to deal with, but I feel like I could do better.
Egg Scorcher: Most bosses in this game are very consistent, so I can't say much here.
Egg Stinger: This is the easiest one in the game and can be speedkilled rather easily due to how easy it is to lure and hit without issue.
Egg Mobile: I've decided to avoid getting touched by the water for additional challenge. In addition, I've done a run where I hit him 8 times - that will cause him to explode and give you twice more points than the usual boss defeat.
Egg Spiker: I've used the speedrun strategy for this, but haven't been able to do it as quickly: regardless, this is still way faster than doing it normally.
Egg Crusher: This boss is very slow.
SONIC GENESIS BOSSES
Egg Wrecker: This game has an odd thing where you can keep bouncing on bosses without issue.
Egg Scorcher: Which also helps in this fight.
Egg Stinger: And hypothetically this one, but it's easier to just hit it before it can even land.
Egg Mobile: This boss is particularly difficult: the controls in this game tend to be rather odd, Eggman can block your way and the obstacles can go out of sync. In addition, it doesn't seem to explode nor give you points upon getting hit 8 times in this version.
Egg Spiker: The boss music starts late and you can hit it from the ground, along with the bouncing like other bosses. It also launches you into SPAAAAAAAAAAA
Egg Crusher: I think this boss is actually better here, as you can hit it twice per cycle, but you need to be very precise. It would help if it was easier to guess where Eggman is, but the resolution makes it harder than in the original. Also, bouncing off the cutscene Egg Mobile, wow.
SONIC CD BOSSES
EGG-HVC-001: Despite how easy it is to simply hit the boss from behind, I've decided to also show it off more and do some risky spindashes for fun.
Egg Tilter: The speedkill boss! You can just skip it entirely, but that's no fun, is it? Bouncing off slope tips to launch yourself into the air, woo!
Egg Bubble: Speedkilling this boss is very precise, which is why I've done it segmented: I am pretty sure this is an oversight, but it's nice to do as the boss is rather slow otherwise.
Egg Conveyor: I have no idea how to speed up this boss.
Egg Razer: Nor this one, but I've decided to screw around with how I approach platforming in runs
Metal Sonic: This is a particularly fun fight, as it really wants you to make good use of the peel-out and slopes all around the arena, and optionally the top paths. I didn't do as well as some others, but I still really like how I fought this guy.
Hotaru&Psycho Egg: I didn't know about the trick where you can manipulate the Hotaru's to all go to the center of the arena when I was doing this video, so this is a bit slower than it should be. The final battle is rather consistent and simple.
SONIC 2 BOSSES
Drill Eggman: For a first boss, this is a bit fun to deal with due to rolling being more beneficial than bounces.
Water Eggman: You know, for a boss that went through so many confusing changes in development, this is oddly anticlimactic.
Hammer Eggman: The pillars have odd collision, so it's best to be careful at the start. When the boss has i-frames, it's hammer will not damage you. If you glide into the arena with Knuckles, you can land some early hits.
Catcher Eggman: I don't know how to efficiently speedkill this boss as Sonic or Tails, but Knuckles can stick to walls and glide through similarly to Hammer Eggman, which is fun.
Submarine Eggman: Another simple boss.
Drill Eggman II: Despite the flame under the boss being dangerous, it's best to stay under it and hit it, finishing it with the spindash.
Submarine Eggman II: While this boss is very consistent and just dealing 6-7 hits to it before it attacks is easy, since the attacks are so boring, I've decided to destroy it before that: this requires you to be incredibly precise and specific. You can finish him off with a spindash too, but be careful: this can cause the game to crash.
Flying Eggman: I don't think I've done well at this fight: it requires good timing and the odd 3D-esque effect makes it harder to understand when to hit him.
Barrier Eggman: With this boss, I've manipulated it's movement by staying on certain sides and tried my best to hit it as many times per cycle as possible, while also trying to dodge the rings.
Mecha Sonic: This one, on the other hand, was just destroyed quickly. Cool spike attack (not seen in the video)
Death Egg: I've tried to speedkill this one as fast as possible, even as Knuckles - I think I've done well.
